8 babies born in 5 minutes

Octuplets born - all survive

History was made on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 when a mother gave birth to eight babies in a hospital near Los Angeles, the world's second live-born set of octuplets. The mother, who asked not to be identified, gave birth to six girls and two boys weighing between 1540 grams and 820 grams.

Doctors said the babies were born nine weeks premature but are in stable condition. Two newborns were placed on ventilators and a third needs oxygen.
